Support Group Facilitator (Volunteer Opportunity)

Posted on behalf of Derbyshire Carers Association

Ripley, Derbyshire

Part Time,

A volunteer position is now available for a Support Group Facilitator to provide support to specific support groups of adult Carers within Derbyshire.

On a monthly basis (with time for planning and research) your role will be to facilitate a specific group of carers. This is a varied role which will include sourcing information from the internet that is of interest and help to Carers and their Cared For and arranging guest speakers for future events and plan outings.

Established in 1988, Derbyshire Carers Association supports carers who look after a friend or family member who, due to illness, disability, mental health problems or an addiction cannot cope without their help and support. Many people who are supporting someone do not see themselves as a ‘carer’ but as relatives or friends. Caring for others can be complex and demanding, physically taxing and mentally draining. Carers often become so focused on the person they care for that they forget to look after themselves. To keep going it is essential that carers look after their own health and well-being and that’s when Derbyshire Carers Association can help.
